The Escape has four powertrain options to power your trips to Newcastle, OK. When equipped with the turbo 2.0-liter engine, the Escape has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds, which exceeds the towing capability of most other cars in its class.
The engine powering the Active and ST-Line trims is a turbo 1.5-liter engine with three cylinders. This engine generates 180 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque, and it has an eight-speed transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is optional.
With the ST-Line Select and up, you'll get a stronger 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a power output of 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is standard with this engine.
Along with the gasoline engines, there are two hybrid powertrains available for the Escape. One is a 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain that produces a net combined 192 horsepower. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) comes with this powertrain. The PHEV has a plug-in hybrid powertrain that uses an electric motor and a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine to produce 210 horsepower. The plug-in gets about 37 miles of all-electric range.
